December 6, 2020 Business Conference minutes
Minutes from prior Church Conferences of August 5, 2020 and November 15, 2020 were approved as printed.
New Members --Welcome to Elizabeth Odell on statement of her faith on December 6, 2020.
Welcome Kellie Collins, Ava Collins, and Reid Collins by baptism on October 11, 2020.
Co-Treasurer Tom McMurray presented the Treasurer’s report and approved as reported.
Report from Leadership Team
Free food giveaway- this event occurred on November 24, 2020 on the church parking lot and 301 individuals registered their households. Food was provided by DOT foods and 2 semi-trucks from IBSA delivered to our parking lot for the giveaway. The church received press from Channel 20, Channel 17, local newspaper, and numerous Facebook posts.
Trunk ‘n Treat – this event was held on October 31, 2020 on the church parking lot and approximately 150 youngsters with an accompanying adult were able to parade through the lineup of cars wearing their costumes and received appropriate treats.
Backpack – this event was held on August 23, 2020 on the church parking lot with approximately 80 back packs with school supplies were handed out.
McClernand School – ongoing outreach with the birthday sacks for each child celebrating a birthday. We are doing it monthly. Sacks are delivered to Dawn Mobley who does the handout.
Audit of Facility
As a professional courtesy, IBSA is going to conduct an on- site audit of our facility to determine what would be the best investment in upgrading/improving the building and grounds short term and long term.
Property and Grounds
Furnace upkeep – Eades Furnace evaluated and did a “Fall Cleaning” and necessary upkeep needed for all the furnaces on Monday, November 23, 2020. In fact, the cleaning of the dust in the “safe room” going into the Fellowship Hall caused the fire alarm to activate and the fire department responded.
RECOMMENDATIONS approved as follows:
The Leadership Team’s recommendations that the 2021 missions’ goals for Lottie Moon, Annie Armstrong and Illinois Missions goals be $3,000 each were approved.
The Deacons and Leadership Team recommendation was approved for the following individuals to become Deacons/Deaconess:
JoAnn Emerson, Chris McVay, Linda Tisdale, David Morr and Will Robinson.
The Pastor Search Team’s recommendation was approved for Doug Morrow to become a 20 hour weekly bi-vocational pastor beginning January 1, 2021 at an annual salary of $30,000 with no benefits. This would allow the church to employ another pastor at a later such as a planting pastor, etc.
The Leadership Team’s recommendation was approved that the Together Church be granted permission to continue meeting at our church for worship services or other meetings.
The Leadership Team’s recommendation was approved that the church adopt the initiative “Everyone Hears” which is a Church led outreach program to reach the 1800+ families in our community.
