Serving our neighborhood and community for Christ
Our church is reaching those in our neighborhood in many ways, here is just a few of the activities we have done this year.
Community for back to school
- Canvassed our neighborhood to see what families needed book bags and supplies.
- Helped over 30 families by making up over 80 book bags for the children in their household.
Food Distribution
- We had the opportunity to distribute food supplies from our Illinois Baptist State Association disaster relief.
- We opened our parking lot, set up tables, had lots of volunteers from our church in addition to other churches, and served over 1,000 people.
- We didn’t have ham or turkey, and none of the families complained with having frozen pizza! Also, cookies and other staples.
McClernand School
- Perfect Attendance bags for students to encourage attendance.
- Birthday bags for each student during the year.
- Providing art supplies for the students.
- Working with food distribution twice a month, packaging and sending students home with food items.
Trunk or Treat
- Provided a safe environment.
- With COVID-19, we worked hard to make sure mask were worn, and children spaced themselves going to each vehicle in our parking lot.
- Halloween weather was cold, a bit windy, but fun for all.
- We even had a dancing dinosaur entertain the children.
- We had over 300 families go thru that night.
